Privacy Policy – Track: Explore City
Last updated: March 2026
Track: Explore City (“the app”) is designed to keep your data on your device by default, with an optional sync feature if you choose to sign in. This policy describes what the app does with your information.
Data stored on your device
- Home base – The map area you choose (center and radius) is stored only on your device.
- Photos – The app reads photo locations from your device’s photo library to show them on the map. Photo files are not copied or uploaded; only location data is used to filter and display photos within your chosen area.
- Walk recordings – GPS paths you record are saved in a local database on your device.
Optional sync (when you sign in)
You can optionally sign in to sync your walks to a backend service so they are available across devices. This is not required to use the app.
- Account information – If you choose to sign in (for example, with Google), basic account details such as your email address and an anonymized identifier are used to associate walks with your account.
- Synced walk data – When signed in, walk recordings (time, path, distance and related metadata) may be stored on our backend so they can be restored on other devices signed into the same account.
- Photos – Photos themselves are not uploaded by the app. Only walk data (and references needed to generate thumbnails) may be stored when sync is enabled.
Data not collected or shared
- No account or sign-in is required for basic use of the app.
- When you do not sign in, no personal data or walk data is sent to our servers.
- We do not include analytics or advertising SDKs in the app.
Third-party services
The map uses OpenStreetMap tiles. Loading the map may cause your device to send requests (e.g. tile URLs and general network data) to OpenStreetMap or your network provider. No personal data or photo content is sent. Your use of the map is subject to the OpenStreetMap copyright and use policy.
Permissions
- Photo Library – Used to read photo locations so photos taken in your home base area can be shown on the map.
- Location – Used to record your path when you start a walk and to display your position on the map during tracking.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
